Floyd is All-District Most Valuable Player

Emily FloydEmily Floyd was named the Most Valuable Player in the 15-2A All District selections for the 2013-14 season. Floyd scored a total of 307 points for the Lady Tigers during the season.

Softball team defeats Lady Raiders, break even at tourney

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger softball team defeated the Winnsboro Lady Red Raiders 13-1 on Tuesday, February 18 in Winnsboro and went three for three at the Longview 2-Step Tournament. See the February 27 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about these competitions.

Clover made 16 points for the Lady Lions. The Saltillo Lady Lions basketball team defeated the Slidell Lady Hounds 67-39 on Saturday, February 15 to claim the Area Championship.

They finished their 2013-14 season as Area Finalists. They lost to the Winnsboro Lady Raiders 38-29 at Sulphur Springs on Friday, February 14 for a 24-7 season record.

Mount Vernon Junior high boys finish season

The Mount Vernon Junior High Tiger basketball teams finished their season Monday night in Tiger Gym. The seventh grade A team defeated Chapel Hill 44-25. They were declared District Champions with a 13-1 season record.

Softball bats get cracking for 2014

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger Softball have their bats cracking and are preparing for the upcoming season. A 2014 preseason poll released by the Texas Girls Coaches Association puts Mount Vernon at the number two spot on their statewide rating.

Mount Vernon Junior varsity Tigers claim two victories
