Lady Tigers bounce into action with series of scrimmages

All five Lady Tiger basketball teams from junior high through varsity bounced into action last week with scrimmages in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, November 8.

Saltillo boys win State Runner-Up

The Mount Vernon High School cross country teams competed at the Region II 3A meet on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.

Volleyball seniors honored

Junior varsity team falls to Prairiland

Trick-or-Treat came early for the junior varsity football team with the Prairiland Patriots scoring two touchdowns on trick plays to defeat the Tigers 30-2. For details from the game, see the November 6 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Burd, Blase named football beau and sweetheart

Kristen Blase, David BurdDavid Burd and Kristen Blase were named the Mount Vernon High School Football Beau and Sweetheart during Senior ceremonies prior to Friday night’s game between the Tigers and the Prairiland Patriots.

Freshman volleyball claims District Championship

freshmen Lady Tigers volleyball teamThe freshmen volleyball team finished their 2014 season with a 15-1 overall record. They were District Champions and claimed first place in both the Quitman Tournament and the Mount Vernon Tournament.

Lady Lions runners headed to State

Saltillo Lady Lions cross country teamThe Saltillo girls cross country team has qualified to compete at the State Meet set for Saturday, November 8 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. This is the first time since 1992 that the girls team has qualified to advance.
