Brown named Player of the Year for DIII baseball

Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown was named the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division III 2014 Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year. He was also named to NJCAA’s All American team as a first team pitcher.

Sand tournament to benefit Lady Tigers

A co-ed four on four sand volleyball tournament will be Saturday, June 14 starting at 9 a.m. at the Sonic sand court at the intersection of I-30 and Hwy. 37.

Laine Lowry wins gold at state meet

Laine LowryLaine Lowry, as a part of the 1600 meter relay team from Argyle High School, won the gold medal in Class 3A at the UIL State Track Meet in Austin on Saturday, May 10.

Alexander, Ables to join All Star Game

Mount Vernon ISD Athletic Director Mike Alexander will be the head coach of the Blue team for the 2014 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chick-Fil-A Heart of a Champion Bowl All Star Game.

Lady Tigers set school records, members earn All-District honors

Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball teamThe Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball team set MVISD records and the entire team was honored with 2014 All-District selections. The Lady Tigers were Regional Finalists and earned a 33-10-1 record for the season.

Lady Tigers are Regional Semifinals Champions

Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball teamThe Mount Vernon Lady Tigers softball team claimed the Regional Semi-finals Championship two games to none over the Brock Lady Eagles at Prosper May 15-17.This is the deepest into the playoffs that the Lady Tigers have progressed since 2001.
