Tigers finish district in second place

Kevi Evans approaches home plate with a full head of steam.Kevi Evans approaches home plate with a full head of steam. He was able to skirt around Queen City’s catcher and slide into home head first. The Mount Vernon Tigers baseball team finished in second place  with a 9-3 record in District 16-3A behind Hughes Springs.

Five Lions advance to Regional track meet

Two male and three female athletes from Saltillo High School have earned the right to advance to the Regional meet on May 1 and 2 at Tarleton State University.

Lady Tigers to face second place tie-breaker

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger softball team lost to Daingerfield 7-3 in an extra inning on Monday, April 27. The loss threw the Lady Tigers into a tie for second place in District 16-3A with Queen City.

All four junior high track teams sweep district meet

All four boys and girls, seventh and eighth grade track teams swept the district meet last week. The seventh grade girls accumulated 212 points while second place Queen City finished with 96 points.

Varsity boys track

Zach Auringer finished in fourth place in the 800 meter dash for the Tigers.Zach Auringer finished in fourth place in the 800 meter dash for the Tigers.
