Jones competes at Golf State meet

Coach Jack Arnwine and Claire JonesClaire Jones, a junior at Saltillo High School, competed at the 1A State Golf tournament in Austin last week. She finished with a two day score of 238. Jones qualified for the state tournament

Five Lions advance to Regional track meet

Two male and three female athletes from Saltillo High School have earned the right to advance to the Regional meet on May 1 and 2 at Tarleton State University.

Senior baseball participants honored

Dakota Sanchez, Jared Perrett, Madilyne Logan,  Blake Banister, Hunter Haley, and Coach B.J. Brown.Five students were honored during senior night activities at the Mount Vernon High School baseball field on Friday, May 1. Following the ceremony, the team played their last district game and defeated Queen City 8-2.

Lady Tigers advance to Area playoffs

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger softball team won an emotionally charged Bi-district playoff game 4-3 against DeKalb on Friday, May 1.

Tigers finish district in second place

Kevi Evans approaches home plate with a full head of steam.Kevi Evans approaches home plate with a full head of steam. He was able to skirt around Queen City’s catcher and slide into home head first. The Mount Vernon Tigers baseball team finished in second place  with a 9-3 record in District 16-3A behind Hughes Springs.
