Floyd is All-District Most Valuable Player

Emily FloydEmily Floyd was named the Most Valuable Player in the 15-2A All District selections for the 2013-14 season. Floyd scored a total of 307 points for the Lady Tigers during the season.

Talsma named first team All-District

Fetzen TalsmaFetzen Talsma was named to the basketball All-District first team for 15-2A for the 2013-14 season. Talsma scored 225 points for the Tiger basketball team this year.

Softball team defeats Lady Raiders, break even at tourney

The Mount Vernon Lady Tiger softball team defeated the Winnsboro Lady Red Raiders 13-1 on Tuesday, February 18 in Winnsboro and went three for three at the Longview 2-Step Tournament. See the February 27 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about these competitions.

Four power lifters qualify for regionals

Four students on the Mount Vernon ISD power lifting team have qualified for the regional meet. Ashley Brown, Corbin Craver, Misael Guzman and Quay Evans each qualified to advance. They finished their 2013-14 season as Area Finalists. They lost to the Winnsboro Lady Raiders 38-29 at Sulphur Springs on Friday, February 14 for a 24-7 season record.
