Welcome! It is the purpose of this web site to aid those in researching ancestors who lived in Franklin County, Texas. The Franklin County Genealogical Society was founded in 1997 as a part of the Historical Society. Within three years, the Society became large enough to separate from the Historical Society. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, the Society was able to obtain and refurbish the Parchman-Meredith building on the town square. The location at 110 East Main Street serves as the research library and meeting room for the Society. The Society was formed to aid those persons researching their families who had lived in Franklin County. However, as the Society has continued to grow, it can now do research worldwide. We have been told that the research material now in the Society's library is among the best in Northeast Texas. Anyone wishing to do family research is welcome to use the facility. Membership dues are only $15.00 per year. This is the TXGenWeb & USGenWeb site for Franklin County, Texas. Chris Skelly is the County Coordinator for Franklin County. |
