Third Marine reunion set

The 55th reunion of the Third Marine Division is scheduled for Aug. 24-30 in San Antonio.
The event is conducted each year for anyone who is now, or has ever been in the Third Marine Division.

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 at the Senior Meal Center, at 208 Taylor St., one block west of the Courthouse.

The Wearin’ O’ The Green

The Wearin’ O’ The GreenThe staff at Medicine Chest celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in high style. The group was decked out in green hair, wigs, T-shirts and jewelry to observe the green wearing tradition on Tuesday, March 17.

Breakfast served at Pine Hill Church

The Women’s Ministry of the Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church will have their annual breakfast buffet/bake sale from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21.
The meal and bake sale is offered by donation and all proceeds from the event are used for mission projects at the church.
To arrive at the church take FM 900 west off of Hwy. 37, go to Greenwood, turn left on FM 3019 and go approximately three miles to the church.

“Hit the Ground Running” workshop scheduled

The Texas District of Financial Women International (FWI) is sponsoring a new FWI workshop entitled “Hit the Ground Running.”
It is being conducted at the Hampton Inn and Suites at 3044 Eastman Road in Longview on Saturday, March 28. See the March 12 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

Cowboy church sponsors program

Wild Horse Ministries will be at the Bogata Rodeo Arena in Bogata, at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22.  
The event is free and open to the public. Included at no charge is parking, barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, and drinks from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Live music from the Sulphur River Cowboy Church Band  will be played from 1 to 2 p.m.

Yipee!!Good things are happening again at the Franklin County ball fields. The preliminary plumbing was completed last week by Steve Slaton and Tri-City Plumbing. Work on the concessions are underway.
