Courtney Baldwin receives scholarship

Courtney Baldwin of Franklin County was one of four students at Northeast Texas Community College and among the 207 Phi Theta Kappa members to receive a $1,000 scholarship as 2019 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars.

Honors group films at Alamo Mission Museum

The Honors Northeast, a student film group from Northeast Texas Community College, recently filmed a portion of this year’s production at several buildings at the Alamo Mission Museum in Franklin County.

Mandatory young farmer project show meetings set for Monday, Tuesday

Two mandatory meeting dates for students planning to participate in the steer, dairy heifer or goat categories of the Mount Vernon - Saltillo Young Farmer Project Show in March 2020 are set for early next week.

School bus memorial planning finalized

Plans for a memorial service commemorating the 60th anniversary of the 1959 Mount Vernon school bus accident were finalized last week by an informal committee of survivors and other interested parties.

Land named to President’s list

Kendall Land of Scroggins was one of 635 students to be included in the President’s List, earning academic honors through their studies at the University of Texas at Tyler for the 2019 Spring semester.

Mendez graduates from OCU

Iley Mae MendezIley Mae Mendez graduated on April 26, 2019 from Oklahoma Christian University. She graduated cum laude, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
