Scholarships for $459,000 awarded to seniors

Senior students at Mount Vernon High School received $458,905 in scholarship money at various banquets and special events earlier this month at school. See the May 23 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for an alphabetical listing of each student who received scholarships and their value.

Service being planned for school bus wreck anniversary

Top place finishers and finalists in the 21st Civil War Journal Writing Contest for MVISD’s seventh grade students.Jet Bass, Alexis Noel Dunavant and Alexis Myers were the top place finishers and claimed $500 in cash prizes in the 21st Civil War Journal Writing Contest for Mount Vernon ISD’s seventh grade students.
