Stocking contest

The decorated stockings have been hung in the hallway adjacent to the Tax Assessor’s office in the north end of the Law Enforcement CenterThe public is invited to vote in a Christmas stocking contest between the various Franklin County departments.

Christmas parade Saturday, holiday activities planned

The Coldwell Banker - Lakehaven Realty Lighted Christmas parade will wind through the streets of Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 15.

Angel Trees set up at local businesses

There are still angels on the Angel Trees for Franklin County children in foster care. There are 15 children currently in the program who need support.

American Legion donates to food bank

The Franklin County Farm Bureau was recognized for 38 years of continuous gain in memberships by the Texas Farm Bureau (TFB).

Its official: Mount Vernon has National Register Status

Mount Vernon’s Historic Business District, also known as the Plaza District, was named to the National Register of Historic Places as of November 21, 2018.

Ornament Decorating class set at CAC

A children’s ornament decorating class will be offered by the Franklin County Arts Alliance from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, December 15.

Licensed Retriever hunting test planned at Selah Ranch

Approximately 200 licensed retrievers and their handlers will descend upon Selah Ranch for a hunting dog test December 8 and 9. Members of the Rose Country Retriever Club from Tyler will be the hosts for the event.
