Fire victims need assistance

Demetria Hendrix and her six year old daughter are looking for assistance after a fire destroyed all their belongings. The fire was reported just before 6 a.m. on Monday, February 27.

The residence at 322 Main St. was fully engulfed in flames when the first fire equipment arrived at the scene. Ms. Hendrix had already left for work, and no one was at home at the time of the fire. See the March 2 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for information on how to be of assistance.
