City begins 2013-14 budget process

The City of Mount Vernon began its annual budget review process during its monthly workshop session Tuesday, July 23. A plan to retire the city’s series 2007 Certificates of Obligation with a payment of $354,156.25 was included.

 City Administrator Tony Stonecypher is recommending the early pay off of the COs. They are costing a slightly higher interest rate, noted Mayor Margaret Sears. See the Aug. 1 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information.
