New rainfall record for September almost five inches above old mark

The previous rainfall record for September was literally blown out of the water by the 12.58 inches of rain recorded at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency official weather station in Mount Vernon.

The previous record of 7.72 inches was recorded in 2009, a 4.86 difference. See the October 4 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about September weather.
