County asks for figures to drop property tax rate slightly

Franklin County Commissioners Court members have asked for figures from County Auditor to drop the ad valorem tax rate slightly from last year’s equivalent rate.

The equivalent rate, or effective rate for taxes, is the rate per $100 dollars of taxable value that it would take to yield the same amount of tax dollars as was levied in 2018 for 2019 budget year, which is $.53579 – about $3.92 million. See the August 8 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for details.
