Suspect drives over Shop owner’s foot while leaving without paying

An auto repair customer drove over the shop owner’s foot and off the property without paying for repairs on a vehicle around 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 17.

Steve Everett, owner of Steve’s Auto and Tire, was attempting to make note of the license place number of the Dodge truck, and the tire of the truck ran over his foot as it drove away. Investigator Leah Thomas noted that a tire mark went across the full width of Mr. Everett’s boot. He refused medical attention. The balance owing on the bill is $4,370. The case remains under investigation. For more about other incidents reported to local law enforcement this week, see the November 26 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
