Commissioners to discuss fireworks ban

Whether or not the county will ban fireworks during the upcoming Independence Day holidays will be decided at a special meeting of the Franklin County Commissioners Court called for 11:15 a.m. Friday, June 1 at the East Courthouse Annex, 502 Hwy. 67E. Fire Marshal Gerry Allen reminded members of the court that a ban on any or all fireworks should be done 30 days in advance of the holiday. See the May 31 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information from the May 29 Commissioners Court meeting.
