District committee rules Nellor brothers ineligible

The Mount Vernon Tiger community was set on its ear last week when the news that the UIL District Executive Committee had ruled football players Cameron and Brock Nellor ineligible to play.

First division at district

The Mighty Tiger Marching Band scored a first division rating at the District UIL marching contest Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Texarkana.The Mighty Tiger Marching Band scored a first division rating at the District UIL marching contest Tuesday, October 22 in Texarkana. The rating advanced the group to the Area competition in Carthage Saturday, October 26. The band placed 16th out of 28 groups.

Cheerleaders at Baylor

State UIL upholds players inelligibility

The State UIL Executive Committee voted 4-1 to uphold the decision of the District Executive Committee that Brock and Cameron Nellor moved to Mount Vernon for athletic purposes.

All-region jazz band

Audra LarsenAudra Larsen was chosen to be part of the All-Region Jazz Band on the Baritone Saxophone. The band had a clinic and performance at Pleasant Grove High School on September 21. Ms. Larson is one of the drum majors for this year’s Mighty Tiger Marching Band.

Marching contest

 Mount Vernon Mighty Tiger Band competed in the NETX Marching FestivalThe Mount Vernon Mighty Tiger Band competed in the NETX Marching Festival in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, October 12 and received a Superior First Division Rating.
