Mount Vernon ISD campuses prepare for the first day of school

Staff members at the various campuses of Mount Vernon ISD are hard at work preparing for the first day of school on Monday, August 19.

Meal programs continue, cafeteria rates rise slightly

Mount Vernon ISD will participate in the free and reduced-price meals program again this year, and cafeteria rates have risen. Earlier this year, the MVISD school board approved the elementary campus joining the Community Eligibility Provision.

Meet the Teacher dates set, area classes resume Aug. 19 or 20

Classes will resume at area schools with Mount Vernon and Saltillo on August 19 and at Sulphur Bluff on August 20.

School board proposes budget, dedicates parking for band use

During a special called meeting of the Mount Vernon ISD Board of Trustees on Thursday, August 1, members proposed a budget and tax rate for the 2019-20 school year and dedicated a parking lot on the east side of the school for use by the marching band.

Back to School Fair planned

Mount Vernon ISD staff members will be hosts for a back to school fair at the main campus from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 8.

School board adds $2,500 per teacher to State mandated raises

Members of the Mount Vernon ISD school board voted to pay teachers an additional $2,500 above the State mandated salary increase outlined in House Bill 3 during their July 25 monthly meeting.
