Flu closes MVISD campuses

Mount Vernon ISD closed its campuses Thursday and Friday, February 7-8 due to the flu virus causing poor attendance.

School board awards door access control system contract

Members of the Mount Vernon ISD Board of Trustees awarded a $41,150 contract to KLC Video Security to replace the door access control system for the district.

Band students receive scholarship offers from University of Arkansas

Cole Burling, Kyle Mosley, Jerrod PittsKyle Mosley, Jerrod Pitts, and Cole Burling received scholarship offers last week totaling $200,000 from the University of Arkansas at Monticello while they were at the Four States Honor Band Convention.

Radar donation

Mount Vernon ISD Police Officer Max Cannaday accepts a Stalker radar device from Bill Germann with American Leagion Post 243. Mount Vernon ISD Police Officer Max Cannaday accepts a Stalker radar device from Bill Germann with American Legion Post 243. The radar will help him track vehicles that speed on campus or near school buses on area roadways.

All State Band

Karen AlonsoKaren Alonso was chosen as the only Alto Saxophone from the area to advance to the All-State Concert Band.
