School still on track for classes to begin August 6

Mount Vernon ISD is still planning for students to return to classrooms on Thursday, August 6. “Effective today, that is our plan,” Superintendent Dr. Jason McCullough told members of the Franklin County Industrial Foundation on Friday, July 10.

“That may change if we receive different guidance from the TEA,” he said. Dr. McCullough believes that it will be more beneficial for students to have seven extra days of instruction at the beginning of the school year rather than adding days at the end of May if that becomes necessary.
